This is a small painting of a parking lot in a semi-residential section of Morristown. I like areas like this, where you can see parts of other neighborhoods through the alley ways and above the fences. I use the angles of the buildings and cars to carve up the space I am working in. Scenes like this lend themselves well to square compositions. I also like reflected blue of the sky on the cars and the rhythm they create as they lead you through the composition. I am doing a whole series of small paintings like this for my upcoming solo show at Gallery MacEgan in March. The show will feature my paintings of both Morristown and NYC.
